Pulman are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year and that is exactly how long Jan has been part of the Pulman family. This week we sadly say goodbye and a big thank you to the fantastic Jan as she starts her retirement.
The year was 1998 when Mike Pulman decided to launch the flagship Pulman Volkswagen showroom at Durham. The first person Mike employed was Jan, so Jan was number 1 on the payroll.
Jan started at front of house, helping customers through their car aftercare journey, then later moved to the aftercare booking Contact Centre.
We asked Jan what she enjoyed the most about being at Pulman, she commented,
“It’s the people. I am a people person and I just really enjoy helping people, being front of house and in the Contact Centre allowed me to do that.”
Jan progressed to being the Contact Centre Supervisor but regularly declined the offer of becoming the Contact Centre Manager. Jan commented,
“There were many progression opportunities within Pulman. I was regularly offered the Manager’s role, but it’s not what I wanted to do. I loved and enjoyed helping customers directly. Becoming a Supervisor allowed me to continue to do that as well as mentoring and training new team members. I’ve lost count of how many people I’ve helped train and nurture over the years, who themselves have gone on to progress further in their careers, which is fantastic and rewarding.”

Jan has decided it is the right time to start enjoying retired life.
“Now is the time to take a step back and enjoy family life and of course lots of holidays. I have some amazing memories from my time at Pulman. It is bittersweet as I will miss the customers and the Pulman people the most. People who I won’t forget ever in life, whom have made a real difference and truly left footprints on my heart.”

You truly empower delivering a fantastic customer experience and you will always be part of the Pulman family. We wish you every happiness and enjoy every moment of your retirement.
