WhatCar? Car Of The Year Awards 2020
The Volkswagen Auto Group brands all scooped a number of awards at the WhatCar? Car of the Year Awards 2020 which took place on 14th January 2020.
At Pulman Group we represent the Volkswagen, SKODA, SEAT and CUPRA brands, all of which took home a number of awards at the WhatCar? Car of the Year awards this year. Take a look at all of the trophies which were collected at the ceremony.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen Polo
For the second year running the Volkswagen Polo has won the ‘Small Car of the Year’ award along with the price point award of ‘Best Small Car between £16,000 and £18,000’. The Polo comes with the latest safety technology features including Front Assist, City Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection with rear view camera and more. You’re never shy on entertainment with Car-Net App-Connect, simply connect your smartphone and you can access many of your apps on the digital screen in front of you such as maps, calls and music.
Volkswagen T-Roc R
The sporty and newly released T-Roc R trim picked up the ‘Sports SUV less than £40,000’ award and it’s not hard to see why! The 2.0 litre 300PS engine is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds which highlights the power this thrilling SUV offers. Standard equipment includes Active Info Display, Discover Navigation system, front and rear parking sensors, LED darkened rear light clusters, Lane Assist and 19" 'Pretoria' alloy wheels.
Volkswagen Touran
The Volkswagen Touran was awarded the ‘Best MPV between £22,000 and £30,000’. The Touran is the perfect multi-purpose vehicle filled with family-friendly features. Due to its size, the MPV is perfect for larger families who like to embark on road trips across the country and Europe! Features to keep all passengers entertained include Composition Colour Radio, optional Cam-Connect to keep an eye on your passengers and pets in the back, Panoramic sunroof, Discover Navigation and more.

Volkswagen Amarok
Overall winner of the ‘Pick-up of the Year’ for the second year running, the Volkswagen Amarok was also awarded the ‘Best Pick-up more than £35,000’. The Amarok pick-up offers the comfiest ride whilst at high speeds in comparison to its rivals along with the impressive 3.0 litre V6 engine. Features even on the standard trim (Amarok Trendline) include 17” Posadas alloy wheels, App-Connect, Cruise Control System (CCS), Climatronic air conditioning system and composition Media Radio with 6.33” touchscreen.
SEAT
SEAT Mii Electric
It may be a small city car but the SEAT Mii Electric won a big award for ‘Small Electric Car less than £25,000’. The electric city car will offer up to 161 electric mile range (WLTP) with a top speed of 81mph. The new SEAT Mii Electric comes with new and updated features when compared to the combustion engines including heated front sports seats, LED wing mirror lights, 5” colour display and an updated dashboard design. The fully electric Mii will be coming to Pulman SEAT early 2020.
SKODA
SKODA Scala
New in 2019, the SKODA Scala won the overall award for ‘Family Car of the Year’ along with the ‘Best Family Car for less than £20,000’. It beat off its rival scoring highly in comfort and interior space, offering a lot of rear head room and a large boot! Specification includes Cruise Control, Parking Distance Sensors, Audio Controls and much more.
SKODA Superb iV
The future is electric for SKODA with the Superb iV bringing home the ‘Plug-in Hybrid of the Year for less than £35,000’ award. The 1.4 TSI iV SE Technology engine which won the award, offers up to 34-mile electric range before the combustion engine kicks in to help. Specification includes heated front leather seats and satellite navigation. Plus the Superb iV was awarded the maximum 5 star EURO NCAP safety rating during vigorous testing.
SKODA Fabia & Fabia Estate
Both the Fabia and the Fabia Estate scooped price point awards at the WhatCar? Car of the Year awards. The Fabia won the ‘Small Car of the Year between £14,000 and £16,000’ and the Fabia Estate was awarded the ‘Best Estate Car less than £20,000’. Both Fabia models are equipped with the latest technology and safety features and offer ample space. Learn more about each model below.

SKODA Superb & Superb Estate
The SKODA Superb wasn’t shy with awards either, with the large hatchback awarded with ‘Executive Car of the Year for less than £30,000’ and the Superb Estate winning the overall category for ‘Estate Car of the Year’ alongside ‘Estate Car of the Year between £20,000 and £30,000’. Both models are well equipped, comfortable and roomy (front, rear and boot space) in comparison to their rivals. The Superb Estate offers an incredible 1,950 litre capacity when the rear seats are folded down. Plus if you have few 6ft tall passengers in your car, there’ll be no fighting for who is ‘shotgun’ as the rear seats are spacious enough for even the tallest of passengers to sit back in comfort!

SKODA Kamiq
The SKODA Kamiq was only released in the UK late 2019 but has picked up ‘Small SUV for less than £20,000’. The compact SUV beat off tough rivals due to its spacious interior offering a lot of rear leg room whilst still offering large boot space, as well as the interior offering higher quality plastics. The new Kamiq also does a fantastic job of smoothing out any road imperfections, making it a comfortable choice for an SUV.

SKODA Karoq
With tough rivals to beat off, another SKODA SUV to win an award was the SKODA Karoq with ‘Family SUV between £20,000 to £30,000’. This SUV is truly known as a comfortable car with no other rivals offering such an indulgent and smooth ride. The handling of this family SUV is agile with accurate steering which makes it a fantastic drive. Add to this the practicality, there’s plenty of space options if you’re heading on a family holiday with the option of sliding the rear seats back and forth to further increase the boot space if needed.
