One of the biggest events of the motoring calendar is fast approaching and at Pulman we can’t wait to see what the Volkswagen Group (VAG) brands have in store for us!
The Frankfurt Motor Show opens its doors to the world’s press on 12th & 13th September ahead of the public days which is from 14th to 22nd September 2019. The Volkswagen Group will be revealing a range of concept and forthcoming production models but the main focus at the motor show will be on electric vehicles. Below we’ve shared what we know so far…
One of the most important cars to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show after sitting on the edge of our seats all summer is the fully electric Volkswagen ID.3 hatchback. Since pre-ordering opened in May 2019 there have been more than 27,000 reservations on the 100% fully electric ID.3 so it’s definitely in demand and we can’t wait to see the full reveal this September! The ID.3 1st Edition offers an electric range up to 260 in accordance with WLTP and comes with quality standard features including Navigation, Voice Control and a contrasting colour roof.
Alongside the production of the ID.3, it’s expected that Volkswagen will show a new electric concept as well. The concept will give us an idea of what’s coming next with suggestions that the model could be a value crossover likely to be called the ID.2.
Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
It’s an exciting time for the crossover segment as Volkswagen are the first to introduce the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet, the only mainstream crossover with a fully convertible roof! The new T-Roc indirectly replaces the Golf and Beetle Cabriolet models and will be the only drop-top for Volkswagen for the foreseeable future. Following tradition, the T-Roc will have a classic soft top with the fully automatic roof opening in just 9 seconds.
The new T-Roc, unlike other cabriolets, are spacious for rear seat passengers too! The roof design allows for enough leg and head room for passengers who are six-foot to be comfortable, along with a 284-lite boot space. Volkswagen have also claimed the noise levels are kept low by using specially developed door and roof seals.
Expected to launch Spring 2020, there will be two trims available in the UK (Design & R-Line); we are sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this niche SUV prior to the release date!
As well as the exciting new model launches above, Volkswagen will also be unveiling their new brand identity, we can’t wait to see what’s new!
CUPRA will be presenting their first fully electric concept vehicle at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which from sneak peak images looks to be an SUV-Coupe likely to share its design features with the upcoming CUPRA Formentor! Little has been revealed from CUPRA aside from the images shared below (pictured below). CUPRA state the interior will apply carbon fibre in swathes, contrasting colours and a sculpted design to match the exterior shape. On the outside, CUPRA claim that the vents across the SUV-Coupe’s nose have been designed to provide the maximum possible driving range; the prototype’s platform or drivetrain is still yet to be confirmed from CUPRA but we believe it will be based on a modified version of the Volkswagen Group’s all-electric MEB platform.
Although SKODA will not be revealing any concept cars at the motor show, they will be showcasing the new Monte Carlo trims for the brand new Scala and Kamiq, which will celebrate the brand’s rallying heritage. The new trims will include black exterior elements and bespoke badging.
